Occupational First Aid is a life skill for the home, workplace and public arenas. Under legislation there is a requirement for employers to have trained occupational first aiders. An Occupational First Aider should be able to;
• Recognise life threatening conditions
• Limit the effects
• Promote recovery
The Occupational First Aid Refresher course is given to participants who have completed the Occupational First Aid course and are due for renewal. It builds on the learning outcomes of the original course and helps to keep the theory and skills up to date.
Emergency First Aid focuses on recognising and treating life threatening conditions. In addition, it equips the participant with the knowledge, skillset and confidence to effectively deal with common injures and ailments.
Cardiac First Responder is a dedicated course to teach participants to recognise and treat a person whose heart has stopped and they are not breathing before professional help arrives on the scene. These skills may help save a life.
The course is taught under the auspieces of the Irish Heart Foundation, who are affiliated with the American Heart Association.
We teach CFR/ AED on 2 levels;
• Heartsaver CPR/AED for the general public
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
Irish legislation states that all persons in the workplace must be trained in manual handling. The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to enable them to safely move and handle inanimate loads competently and to a recognised standard.
This course is designed for healthcare workers who need to be trained to safely move and handle patients under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and Manual Handling Regulations 1993 and 2007 in a hospital, nursing home or home care setting. Up to date techniques are thought to ensure it is safe for the carer and client.
Fire can pose a major risk in both the home and the workplace. The aim of this course is to give attendees an understanding of the causes of fire, how to prevent a fire and what to do in the event of a fire.
